Home Location

Setting your home location in Zerofy enables important features for energy optimization. You can configure your home location in the app under Profile → Settings → Home Location.

What is Home Location Used For?

Your home location is used for two key features:

1. EV Charging Location Restriction

When using Autopilot with your electric vehicle, the home location ensures that automated charging control only happens when your vehicle is at home.

Why is this important?

  • Prevents interference with public charging: Without location restriction, Autopilot might try to stop or delay charging when you’re at a public fast charger or workplace charger, which is not desired behavior.
  • Optimizes home charging only: Autopilot is designed to optimize your home energy usage. It should only control charging when your EV is connected to your home charger.
  • Avoids unexpected behavior: When traveling or using DC fast chargers, you want full control over your charging session without Autopilot interference.

2. Solar Forecast

Your home location is essential for generating accurate solar production forecasts for your PV system.

How it works:

  • The location is used to calculate sun position, sunrise/sunset times, and expected solar irradiance for your specific geographic coordinates.
  • This forecast is critical for Autopilot (Smart Mode), which optimizes device schedules based on predicted solar production.
  • Without an accurate location, the solar forecast cannot properly predict when your system will generate excess energy.

Requirements:

  • For solar forecasts to work, you also need to configure your PV system details (kWp, orientation, tilt) in your inverter settings.
  • The combination of location and system configuration enables accurate day-ahead and intraday solar predictions.

How to Set Your Home Location

  1. Open Zerofy.
  2. Navigate to Profile → Settings → Home Location.
  3. Either allow the app to detect your current location, or manually search for and select your address.
  4. Confirm the location to save it.

Privacy

Your home location is stored securely and is only used for the features described above. It is not shared with third parties.
