How to Connect GoodWe Inverters with the Zerofy App

Preconditions:

  • You have a GoodWe account and your plant is registered to it. GoodWe manages plants in SEMS+ — the SEMS+ app, or semsplus.goodwe.com. SEMS+ replaced GoodWe’s older SEMS Portal at semsportal.com, which is no longer in service.
  • Your plant is registered on GoodWe’s European server. Zerofy only connects to GoodWe’s EU gateway. Plants on GoodWe’s US, Australian, International or China servers cannot be connected.
  • Your inverter is online in SEMS+.

Connecting Your GoodWe System with Zerofy

  1. Open solar/inverter setup in Zerofy and select GoodWe.
  2. Zerofy opens the GoodWe login page. Sign in with your GoodWe account credentials.
  3. On the GoodWe consent screen, grant access to the plant(s) you want to use. Zerofy only sees plants you explicitly authorise here. If you do not tick any plant, no devices will be found.
  4. Confirm and you are returned to Zerofy, where you select which of the discovered devices to connect.

During sign-in your browser may show a zerofy-energy.cloudfunctions.net address. This is the backend that handles the GoodWe connection and is expected.

If your plant has a physical GoodWe meter, that meter is used. Otherwise the meter values are derived from the hybrid inverter.

Features and Things to Know

Once connected, you can:

  • Monitor live PV production, grid import and export, home consumption and battery state of charge. Home consumption is reported by GoodWe directly, not estimated.
  • View historical data collected at 1-minute resolution. History is backfilled nightly, on connecting and when you open the app. GoodWe does not accept history requests longer than 24 hours, so a longer offline period is filled in gradually.
  • Use Autopilot to charge and discharge your battery.
  • Switch devices on excess solar production with Autopilot (Solar Mode).

Battery control

Whether your battery can be controlled depends on your inverter model. GoodWe has to enable remote control for your account, plant and device. Some models reject control commands, and commands are also rejected while a device is offline, unauthorised or busy.

If you connected GoodWe before battery control was available, disconnect and reconnect the integration once so the additional permission can be granted.

Known Limitations

  • Only plants on GoodWe’s European server can be connected.
  • EV chargers in your GoodWe account are not imported.
  • GoodWe does not publish valid power and state-of-charge ranges for battery control. Zerofy uses 100% as the charge cut-off and 0% as the discharge cut-off.

Meter type

  • Main meter: Grid meter. Can be configured as bi-directional or consumption.
  • Production: Measures solar production. Configure as sub meter with type production.
  • Sub meter: Measures any type of device as a sub meter and appears in device consumption.
