Frequently Asked Questions

This page answers the most common questions about Zerofy.

About Zerofy and the app

What is Zerofy?

Zerofy is a home energy management app. It connects to your solar panels, battery, EV charger, heat pump, and other smart devices, shows what is happening with your energy in real time, and helps optimize when each device runs.

Do I need any extra hardware?

No. Zerofy runs in the cloud and connects to supported internet-connected devices through their manufacturer cloud services.

Which devices and brands are supported?

We support many brands across solar inverters, batteries, smart meters, EV chargers, electric vehicles, heat pumps, and smart plugs.

Can I use it without solar panels?

Yes, but the app is most useful when you have at least a solar system or a battery.

Getting started

How do I download the app?

Search for “Zerofy” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.

How do I create an account?

Open the app, tap Create account, and sign up with email/password, Google, or Apple.

How long does setup take?

Most users complete setup in 10 to 20 minutes, depending on how many devices they connect.

Do I need a dedicated internet connection at home?

Your app uses mobile or home internet. Your connected devices must also be online to sync through their manufacturer cloud.

Connecting your devices

How do I connect my solar inverter?

Go to Devices -> Add device -> Solar, select your brand, and sign in with your manufacturer account.

Why does the app ask for my manufacturer cloud login?

The app reads live data from your manufacturer cloud. Credentials are used only to maintain the data connection.

My inverter brand is not in the list. What can I do?

Tell us your brand in the app below the list of supported brands.

Can I connect more than one inverter?

Yes. Add each inverter as a separate device.

How do I connect my electric vehicle or charger?

Go to Devices -> Add device -> EV or Devices -> Add device -> EV Charger, then follow the login flow.

How do I connect my heat pump?

Go to Devices -> Add device -> Heat pump and follow the setup flow for your brand.

Can I add a home battery?

Yes, if your battery brand is supported or connected through a supported inverter.

Understanding your dashboard

What do the numbers on the home screen mean?

The home screen shows live values for production, home consumption, grid flow, and battery (if available).

Why do app values differ from my electricity bill?

Bills are based on utility meter settlement, while the app shows near real-time operational data from connected systems.

What is self-consumption?

Self-consumption is the share of your solar production used directly in your home instead of being exported.

What is autarky (energy independence)?

Autarky is the share of your total electricity demand covered by your own production.

How often is data updated?

For most brands, values refresh every 1 to 5 minutes.

Why is there sometimes a delay?

The app depends on manufacturer cloud update intervals, which can vary by brand and model.

Autopilot

What is Autopilot?

Autopilot automates when connected devices run to improve solar usage and reduce energy costs.

What is the difference between Solar Mode and Smart Mode?

Solar Mode prioritizes surplus solar. Smart Mode also considers forecasts and dynamic prices.

Do I need a dynamic tariff for Smart Mode?

Yes. Smart Mode needs hourly price data.

Why did my device not turn on even though it was sunny?

Common reasons include device priority, minimum activation threshold, active time windows, or lower expected cost later in the day.

Can I override Autopilot and control devices manually?

Yes. Manual runs pause automation for that run, then Autopilot resumes.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Existing device states continue, but new cloud automation decisions resume once connectivity returns.

Dynamic electricity tariffs

What is a dynamic tariff?

A dynamic tariff changes electricity price by hour based on market conditions.

Where do prices in the app come from?

Prices are based on market data and your configured tariff components.

EV charging

How do I set a charging target?

Open your EV settings in the app, set a target state of charge, and choose the ready time.

Why did my car not charge last night?

If Autopilot is active, ensure the vehicle is reachable and connected in its parked location.

Does it work with any charger?

It works with supported charger brands and compatible setups.

Does it work if I only connect my car and not the charger?

Yes, for supported EV brands with API access.

Troubleshooting

My data is not updating or seems stuck.

Check whether your device connection is active. If needed, reconnect the integration in the app. Temporary manufacturer cloud outages can also delay updates.

I cannot log in.

Check your credentials, reset your password from the login screen if needed, and contact support at Zerofy dot net if the issue continues.

Account, privacy, and data

What data does Zerofy collect?

The app processes connected energy data, account details, and app diagnostics to provide product functionality.

Who can see my data?

You can access your data in your account. Support access is limited to troubleshooting situations.

Support and when to contact whom

Where can I get help?

For app and data questions, contact support at Zerofy dot net.

When should I contact my installer instead?

Contact your installer for physical system issues, hardware faults, warranty topics, and on-site work.
